Mathieu FenniakandMathieu Fenniak 9fe0cbee02 fix: relocate PR review comments using git blame --reverse, improving comment placement (#12015)
When a review comment is placed on a PR in Forgejo, Forgejo performs a `git blame` to identify which commit originated the line, and records that commit and line number in the comment's database record. Later when the review is viewed, Forgejo currently makes no effort to place that comment in the correct *current* location, which may vary -- for example, if a PR had two commits and the comment was made on a line in the first commit, but the second commit changes line numbers in that file, the comment will appear in the incorrect location.

This PR adds the usage of `git blame --reverse` to calculate the correct location to display the comment in the current view (whether reviewing the PR commit-by-commit, or "Files changed"). It certainly does not fix all problems with comment placement (see comments).

Another major addition in this PR is a test harness for making relatively complex PRs and reviewing the diffs on the per-commit view and PR-diff views.

- Go has a suite of small linters that helps with modernizing Go code by using newer functions and catching small mistakes, https://pkg.go.dev/golang.org/x/tools/go/analysis/passes/modernize.

Mathieu FenniakandEarl Warren 7f6b9a8867 fix: expanding exactly 20 lines between diff sections leaves visual artifact (#8519)
Fixes #8488.

The issue was caused by having exactly 20 lines of text between two diff sections, which is `BlobExcerptChunkSize`. The previous diff section ends at 530, the next diff section starts at 551, leaving 20 hidden lines. This triggered an off-by-one error in determining whether a synthetic section should be added to the render to include a new expander; it was falsely being triggered when it shouldn't have been.

Mostly correct logic was already present in `GetExpandDirection`, so I changed the `ExcerptBlob` web rendering to use `GetExpandDirection` on whether to include the synthetic section. Then I covered `GetExpandDirection` with unit tests covering all boundary conditions, which discovered one other minor bug -- the case where exactly `BlobExcerptChunkSize` is hidden between two diff sections should never have displayed an "Up" and "Down" expansion, but just a single expander (as below).

![Untitled-2025-07-04-1538(1)](/attachments/05573c5e-3cd4-46d5-8c1f-ecdb28302a19)

Note that *technically* the `ExcerptBlob` change is not covered by any new tests... but the relevant logic has been moved to somewhere more easily testable and fully covered. If this isn't covered enough for tests, let me know.

GustedandEarl Warren 00761a15d1 chore: simplify GetDiff (#7682)
- Split `GetDiff` into two functions, `GetDiffSimple` and `GetDiffFull`. The former will do the bare minimum and really only get a Git diff while the latter does some extra stuff that's relevant for the frontend to show extra relevant.
- Use `GetDiffSimple` for API related calls, as they do not benefit nor are returning the extra information that `GetDiffFull` provides, this should show a measurable performance increase for API calls that returns commits and `/repos/{owner}/{repo}/pulls/{index}/files`.
- `GetDiffSimple` contains extra code comments about its interesting way to determine the before commit.
- Add unit tests to demonstrates that the logic for determining the before commit didn't change and the function still yields correct information.

oliverpoolandoliverpool 0fc61c8836 [BUG] split code conversations in diff tab (#2306)
Follow-up of #2282 and #2296 (which tried to address #2278)

One of the issue with the previous PR is that when a conversation on the Files tab was marked as "resolved", it would fetch all the comments for that line (even the outdated ones, which should not be shown on this page - except when explicitly activated).

To properly fix this, I have changed `FetchCodeCommentsByLine` to `FetchCodeConversation`. Its role is to fetch all comments related to a given (review, path, line) and reverted my changes in the template (which were based on a misunderstanding).

6bc3079c00 Refactor git command package to improve security and maintainability (#22678)
This PR follows #21535 (and replace #22592)

## Review without space diff

https://github.com/go-gitea/gitea/pull/22678/files?diff=split&w=1

## Purpose of this PR

1. Make git module command completely safe (risky user inputs won't be
passed as argument option anymore)
2. Avoid low-level mistakes like
https://github.com/go-gitea/gitea/pull/22098#discussion_r1045234918
3. Remove deprecated and dirty `CmdArgCheck` function, hide the `CmdArg`
type
4. Simplify code when using git command

## The main idea of this PR

* Move the `git.CmdArg` to the `internal` package, then no other package
except `git` could use it. Then developers could never do
`AddArguments(git.CmdArg(userInput))` any more.
* Introduce `git.ToTrustedCmdArgs`, it's for user-provided and already
trusted arguments. It's only used in a few cases, for example: use git
arguments from config file, help unit test with some arguments.
* Introduce `AddOptionValues` and `AddOptionFormat`, they make code more
clear and simple:
    * Before: `AddArguments("-m").AddDynamicArguments(message)`
    * After: `AddOptionValues("-m", message)`
    * -
* Before: `AddArguments(git.CmdArg(fmt.Sprintf("--author='%s <%s>'",
sig.Name, sig.Email)))`
* After: `AddOptionFormat("--author='%s <%s>'", sig.Name, sig.Email)`

## FAQ

### Why these changes were not done in #21535 ?

#21535 is mainly a search&replace, it did its best to not change too
much logic.

Making the framework better needs a lot of changes, so this separate PR
is needed as the second step.

### The naming of `AddOptionXxx`

According to git's manual, the `--xxx` part is called `option`.

### How can it guarantee that `internal.CmdArg` won't be not misused?

Go's specification guarantees that. Trying to access other package's
internal package causes compilation error.

And, `golangci-lint` also denies the git/internal package. Only the
`git/command.go` can use it carefully.

### There is still a `ToTrustedCmdArgs`, will it still allow developers
to make mistakes and pass untrusted arguments?

Generally speaking, no. Because when using `ToTrustedCmdArgs`, the code
will be very complex (see the changes for examples). Then developers and
reviewers can know that something might be unreasonable.

### Why there was a `CmdArgCheck` and why it's removed?

At the moment of #21535, to reduce unnecessary changes, `CmdArgCheck`
was introduced as a hacky patch. Now, almost all code could be written
as `cmd := NewCommand(); cmd.AddXxx(...)`, then there is no need for
`CmdArgCheck` anymore.

### Why many codes for `signArg == ""` is deleted?

Because in the old code, `signArg` could never be empty string, it's
either `-S[key-id]` or `--no-gpg-sign`. So the `signArg == ""` is just
dead code.

zeripathandGitHub beb2058186 Fix broken spans in diffs (#14678)
Gitea runs diff on highlighted code fragment for each line in order to provide
code highlight diffs. Unfortunately this diff algorithm is not aware that span tags
and entities are atomic and cannot be split.

The current fixup code makes some attempt to fix these broken tags however, it cannot
handle situations where a tag is split over multiple blocks.

This PR provides a more algorithmic fixup mechanism whereby spans and entities are
completely coalesced into their respective blocks.

This may result in a incompletely reduced diff but - it will definitely prevent the
broken entities and spans that are currently possible.

As a result of this fixup several inconsistencies were discovered in our testcases
and these were also fixed.

The code for parsing diff hunks has a bug whereby a very long line
in a very long diff would not be completely read leading to an unexpected
character.

This PR ensures that the line is completely cleared

* Alternative fix for HTML diff entity split

This commit both reverts PR #13357 and uses the exiting implementation alredy used for spans to fix the same issue. That PR duplicates most of logic that is already present elsewhere and still was failing for some cases. This should be simpler as it uses the existing logic that already works for <span>s being split apart.

Added both test cases as well.

* Fix diff skipping lines

ParsePatch previously just skipped all lines that start with "+++ " or "--- "
and makes no attempt to see these lines in context.

This PR rewrites ParsePatch to pay attention to context and position
within a patch, ensuring that --- and +++ are only skipped if
appropriate.

This PR also fixes several issues with incomplete files.

edfebe65b1 Finally fix diff names (#13136)
* Finally fix diff names

#12771 attempted to fix diff by avoiding the git diff line as
it is possible to have an ambiguous line here.

#12254 attempted to fix diff by assuming that names would quoted
if they needed to be and if one was quoted then both would be.

Both of these were wrong.

I have now discovered `--src-prefix` and `--dst-prefix` which
means that we can set this in such a way to force the git diff
to always be unambiguous.

Therefore this PR rollsback most of the changes in #12771 and
uses these options to fix this.
